SpeechTherapy.org
Clear, experience-based guidance on speech, language, and communication — for families, caregivers, and adults who need answers they can actually use.
If you have found this site, you are probably looking for something specific. A child who is not talking as much as expected. A diagnosis that needs explaining. A question about therapy that your appointment did not leave time to answer. A loved one recovering from stroke or navigating a progressive condition.
This site exists for exactly those moments. Not to replace a clinician — but to make sure you arrive at every appointment informed, prepared, and asking the right questions.
Who This Site Is For
What You Will Find Here
Every page on this site is written to be understood without a clinical background. The goal is always the same: give you the information you need to take the right next step.
All content is educational and is not a substitute for individualized professional evaluation or treatment.
John Burke is a speech-language pathologist with more than 28 years of clinical experience supporting children and adults with communication, language, and swallowing challenges. He worked across hospitals, rehabilitation centers, home health, and early intervention programs — including a decade focused entirely on children from birth to age three. He founded SpeechTherapy.org in 1996 to give families access to the same quality of guidance he provided in the clinic, without needing an appointment to get it.
Quality, Accuracy, and Transparency
Every page on this site is written or reviewed by John Burke based on his clinical experience and current evidence. Content is updated as standards and best practices evolve.
